Mary-Kate e Ashley Olsen, classe 1986, sono due che, volenti o nolenti, hanno sempre fatto parlare di sé. Sulla scena sin da quando, poco più che bambine, stregavano il grande pubblico al cinema, in poco tempo si sono immerse nella moda, fino alla carriera di produttrici.
Stigmatizzate dai media come “cattive ragazze” a causa del fumo, dell’anoressia di Mary-Kate e dello sfoggio incurante di pellicce, derise senza pietà dalla Fashion Police, nel 2005 il New York Times le ha umiliate pubblicamente definendo il loro modo di vestire “da clochard”, creando quello che oggi è il fortunatissimo stile shabby chic.
Da allora Mary-Kate e Ashley ne hanno fatta di strada e forse grazie alla maturità anagrafica, hanno sviluppato anche quella per la moda, tant’è che Vogue America le ha incoronate come “le sorelle meglio vestite” dell’anno. In lizza c’erano rivali agguerritissime e valenti, le sorelle Fanning, le sorelle Knowles e le sorelle Middleton.
